'Sarah at Plâs Newydd, Llangollen, 5 July 1788′ - Gillian Clarke
Gillian Clarke, the
National Poet of Wales (2008-2016), was asked by Welsh LGBT historian
Norena Shopland to write a poem for the first LGBT exhibition in Wales,
during LGBT History Month, 2012.
The poem ‘Sarah at Plâs Newydd, Llangollen, 5 July 1788′
was written about the Ladies of Llangollen and dedicated to the LGBT
community of Wales - the first known poem by a National Poet or Poet
Laureate to the LGBT community of their country. (source)
It was published in ‘Ice’ in 2012.
